Orthodontics

A beautiful natural smile is only complete with teeth that are symmetrically and perfectly aligned, and this is what each of us is looking for and is exactly what you can get when performing an orthodontic treatment.

Orthodontic treatment not only improves the appearance of the smile but also improves the health of the mouth, teeth and gums because when you have crowded and overlapping teeth, when brushing teeth, you will not be able to clean the narrow areas between those teeth, which naturally constitute a place for food residue to collect and are at risk. Severe tooth decay, loss of gums, bone, and irregular wear of enamel.

The doctor uses a set of metal or ceramic braces that are affixed to the outer surface (and sometimes the inner surface) of each tooth and a set of metal wires are used gradually according to their size and are attached to the brackets by an elastic tape and then work to apply a measured force that leads to movement These teeth are arranged perfectly in the mouth.

Ceramic braces are less visible on the teeth than metal ones and are used for people who have some cosmetic concerns, but they require increased oral care because they are larger and more brittle than mineral.

After the orthodontic treatment is completed and the braces and wires are removed from the mouth, the doctor will give the patient a device that is applied to the upper and lower teeth to fix the teeth in their correct place so that the condition does not recede to its previous condition, so that the teeth are stabilized and firmly fixed in the jaw.

During orthodontic treatment, an increased focus should be placed on oral health, as the process of cleaning teeth is more difficult due to the presence of braces and orthodontic wires, so the following are recommended:

  •  Use a soft-bristled toothbrush with fluoride toothpaste.

  • Brushing the teeth after every meal.

  •  Focus on difficult-to-clean areas, especially around braces and orthotic wires.

  • Reducing sugar intake and avoiding solid foods.
